The Statement os Ethics

Ethical Standards
The act of publishing involves many parties, each of which plays an important role in achieving these aims. It therefore follows that the author, the journal editor, the peer-reviewer, the publisher and the owner of journal have responsibilities to meet expected ethical standards at all stages in their involvement from submission to publication of an article.

“Perspectiva” is committed to meeting and upholding standards of ethical behaviour at all stages of the publication process. Below is a summary of our key expectations of editors, peer-reviewers and authors.

ETHICAL EXPECTATIONS

1. Editors’ responsibilities

To act in a balanced, objective and fair way while carrying out their expected duties, without discrimination on grounds of gender, sexual orientation, religious or political beliefs, ethnic or geographical origin of the authors.

To handle submissions for sponsored supplements or special issues in the same way as other submissions, so that articles are considered and accepted solely on their academic merit and without commercial influence.

To adopt and follow reasonable procedures in the event of complaints of an ethical or conflict nature, in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Society where appropriate. To give authors a reasonable opportunity to respond to any complaints. All complaints should be investigated no matter when the original publication was approved. Documentation associated with any such complaints should be retained.

Editors have complete responsibility and authority to reject/accept an article. When errors are found, promote publication of correction or retraction.

The journal “Perspectiva” implements anti-ghostwriting  procedure and strict plagiarism detection policy. In the case of "Perspectiva" it is used CrossCheck powered by iThenticate. No plagiarism, no fraudulent data.

Anti-ghostwriting  procedure: the editors consider the “ghostwriting” and “guest authorship” as a sign of very serious scientific misconduct. All the detected cases of the “ghostwriting” and “guest authorship”  will be exposed, including notification of relevant institutions. As a result, the publisher of the journal “Perspectiva” has introduced procedures to address the phenomena of “ghostwriting” and “guest authorship”. All the authors must fulfill and sign the declaration concerning “ghost-writing” and “guest authorship”. Always be willing to publish corrections, clarifications, retractions and apologies when needed.

 2. Reviewers’ responsibilities

To contribute to the decision-making process, and to assist in improving the quality of the published paper by reviewing the manuscript objectively, in a timely manner. Judgments should be objective.

To maintain the confidentiality of any information supplied by the editor or author. To not retain or copy the manuscript.

To alert the editor to any published or submitted content that is substantially similar to that under review.

To be aware of any potential conflicts of interest (financial, institutional, collaborative or other relationships between the reviewer and author) and to alert the editor to these, if necessary withdrawing their services for that manuscript.

Reviewers should point out relevant published work which is not yet cited.

Reviewed articles should be treated confidentially.

3. Authors’ responsibilities

All authors obliged to participate in peer review process.

To maintain accurate records of data associated with their submitted manuscript, and to supply or provide access to these data, on reasonable request. Where appropriate and where allowed by employer, funding body and others who might have an interest, to deposit data in a suitable repository or storage location, for sharing and further use by others.

The author signs a Licence Contract and Authors Declaration Form, which is the statement that all data in article are real and authentic.

To confirm/assert that the manuscript as submitted is not under consideration or accepted for publication elsewhere. Where portions of the content overlap with published or submitted content, to acknowledge and cite those sources. Additionally, to provide the editor with a copy of any submitted manuscript that might contain overlapping or closely related content.

To confirm that all the work in the submitted manuscript is original and to acknowledge and cite content reproduced from other sources. To obtain permission to reproduce any content from other sources.

Authors should ensure that any studies involving human or animal subjects conform to national, local and institutional laws and requirements and confirm that approval has been sought and obtained where appropriate. Authors should obtain express permission from human subjects and respect their privacy.

To declare any potential conflicts of interest (e.g. where the author has a competing interest (real or apparent) that could be considered or viewed as exerting an undue influence on his or her duties at any stage during the publication process).

To notify promptly the journal editor or publisher if a significant error in their publication is identified. To cooperate with the editor and publisher to publish an erratum, addendum, corrigendum notice, or to retract the paper, where this is deemed necessary. All authors are obliged to provide retractions or corrections of mistakes.

The word of Fr. Bishop Tadeusz Rybak

In the tenth year of the existence of the Diocese of Legnica, the community of the Major Seminary of this diocese undertakes the initiative of publishing the journal “Perspectiva - Legnica Theological and Historical Studies”. The title of the journal refers to the famous work of Perspectiv by the medieval scholar Witelon, who was associated with Legnica as the head of a well-known school located at the church of St. Peter in this city. The journal wants to refer to the rich intellectual heritage that existed in the past and which is developing in our times, especially in the areas belonging to the Diocese of Legnica and Lower Silesia. I saw the need for such a journal from the very beginning of the establishment of the Major Seminary of the Diocese of Legnica, which is why I accepted the initiative of publishing it with appreciation and gratitude. I expect that the “Perspectiva” journal will publish mainly works created in the community of lecturers and students of the Legnica Higher Theological Seminary affiliated to the Pontifical Faculty of Theology in Wrocław, but it will also be open to cooperation with other circles that strive to develop Christian science and culture in Lower Silesia. May God's blessing and protection of Our Lady of Graces accompany the work of the editorial staff, authors and readers of the journal.

Bishop of Legnica Tadeusz Rybak, September 1, 2002

The word of Rev. Bishop Ignacy Dec

An extremely important condition for the development of any research center is the possibility of publishing the results of scientific research and the opportunity to exchange ideas and scientific, didactic and formation experiences. We are happy to welcome the appearance of the scientific journal in the theological environment of the city of Legnica, the capital of the new diocese and the growing scientific community. Piast’s Legnica has a glorious history in the field of church and civil education. It was here, in the golden age of the Middle Ages, that the world-famous scientist Witelo (Witelon) operated. His excellent work Perspectiva was known in the university centers of the late Middle Ages and the first centuries of modern times. Famous luminaries of European science studied there. It was also in Legnica that the first attempts to establish a University in Lower Silesia appeared. The journal “Perspectiva - Legnica Theological and Historical Studies” will certainly renew and extend the glorious tradition of the Piast castle on the Kaczawa River. On behalf of the academic community of the Pontifical Faculty of Theology in Wrocław, I congratulate you on this necessary idea. The journal will certainly contribute to the development of the theological center, centered around the Higher Theological Seminary in Legnica, linked with the Pontifical Faculty of Theology in Wrocław through affiliations. It will become the "place" for the announcement of the results of theological research and the exchange of scientific ideas. I wholeheartedly wish this magazine a long lifetime, but also the achievement of a high quality of published works. Let the Journal quickly become one of the most important and important theological journals in our country. May Mary, Seat of Wisdom, her most chaste spouses, St. Jadwiga Śląska and the Saint Patrons of the Diocese of Legnica support this noble work from heaven.
